Reclaim the Bindi Week is back for Diwali and the movement’s 1st anniversary! I hope everyone is ready to post until #bindi is flooded with South Asian pride! If you are new to #reclaimthebindi, this is a campaign that fights cultural appropriation by promoting South Asians reclaiming our culture across social media platforms!
What is our goal?
To reclaim our culture from appropriators by flooding the bindi tag with selfies, pictures, anecdotes, stories, art, ANYTHING reclaiming the bindi and/or our culture. You don’t have to wear anything related to your cultural identity to participate - anything works!
When is this happening?
November 8th - 14th! (please feel free to post all your Eid, Navratri and Diwali photos!)
What should you do?
Now:
Reblog this post to spread the word!
From November 8th-14th:
Post selfies with you wearing a bindi, art, stories, photography, poetry, ANYTHING reclaiming our culture with the tags #bindi and #reclaimthebindi so that we all can see them (please make sure you tag your posts with at least #bindi otherwise they won’t show up in the tag)!
this whole discussion about a Mulan life-action baffles me. Like… I love the fun with Mushu and all but? Why do we need a Disney remake of the movie when there is
a pretty much epic
beautiful
actually Chinese version
with great characters
and Mulan’s more accurate story
readily available???
Since 2009??
Well I know what I am watching now
UPDATE: I just watched this and I have so many emotions. Seriously, check this out
OOH! On my list!
i didnt know this existed!!! ok
I’ve failed all my followers for not letting them know about this immediately. I’m sorry you guys missed out.
Here is a link to watch it free online with English subtitles.
Just as a warning, it is a little violent, some horses are killed during the battles, and there is a scene where Wentai cuts open his wrist. It is a very good movie, I just finished watching it and would recommend everyone watch it.
